Whats your work horse, daily, go to, get around bike

Pretty much every day I ride this thing, to shops, take little un to school, into town for
supplies etc, it lives by the front door and is ready to just grab an go.

Its a 2009 Trek 6300, fitted a 29er rigid alloy fork which allows me to run many options of front wheel,
especially useful in a grab moment and discover I got a puncture, with hub adapters for my other
bike wheels I can do quick wheel changes also the reason for no front brake,
simple 8 speed 1x and cable hydraulic rear brake 180mm rotor for a no hassle just work affair.

Front end jacked for an up right ride position, sometimes run a cargo cage front rack
for baggage and stuff, in all its just a simple, practical and reliable bike for me.

I bought it on a bit of a whim to try out a belt drive and hub gears and I really like it, it's very smooth and quiet, needs hardly any maintenance and you don't get oily trousers when riding in "civies".

I did make a few changes, fitted some mudguards and changed the saddle and grips. I also built a new front wheel and replaced the rim and spokes on the rear wheel, so that I could fit tubeless tyres - I just couldn't get them to work with the original rims.

Nice clean look. Is it just two bolts on the drive side seat stay that when undone allow the stay to pull apart
slightly to get the belt in ?

Fancied a belt drive for a long while for the same reason, low maintenance, smooth quiet etc
thought of messing with a suspension frame to get a belt in and locking the rear firm.

Rudy Project mtb is early 90s with 9-speed X0 and DX brakes.

XB3 Спорт is a Soviet track bike from about 1984-1987.

my work horse : a Rockrider Decathlon XC-1 Limited, 1999. Nothing crazy but Colombus Thron frame & Ritchey “shell” drop out. I take it to work every day, it's really nice to ride.

That's right, and it has an eccentric bottom bracket that allows you to adjust the belt tension; a bit like this one:



The hub gear is quite nice, but there are some draw backs.

It's quite heavy, it weighs nearly 2kg, and you really notice the heavy back end when you pick the bike up, although not really while riding.

There are only 8 gears and the jumps between some of them is a bit odd, but that's all fine for short local trips.

Lastly, while it uses a standard 8 speed trigger shifter, the gears are reversed in comparison to a derailleur. Even after having it a couple of years, I still change up instead of down and vice versa about half the time.
