what's your favourite bike year?

on another thread exbiker wrote, i think, quoting from memory "anything from 92"

made me think, what was your favourite year? bike related for whatever reason, models, riding, holidays

i have to agree with 92, think that was a good 1 also 2001 was good for me, that was my first trip to the alps and have been back every year since.

come on, i want stories!!

So many good years, but the highlights:

Summer of 92 – got into MTBing

Winter of 95 – The Pro-Circuit winter series at Thetford Forest, awesome racing, got some good results

Summer of 96 – Brought my RTS from new

Late 96 – Joined GB development squad

Late summer 07 – Discovered Retrobike

1992 - transition from BMX to MTB

1994 - Just wanted cool stuff (read annodised everything)

1996 - Just bought cool stuff ( read annodised everything and more) inc red USE seatpost, my first Chris King headset, Tioga Tension Disc, gore rideon cables MRC cnc'd cnati's..mmmmmm

1998 -Was a fine vintage with a purchase of my GT STS DH (large) build kit only to add xtr bits, Mavic 321 ceramic reims, SDG glitter saddle, oury grips, IRC Missile tyres, control tech seatpost.

2001 - got my hands on the Manitou HT frame set as NOS for only $300AU

Wow! That's a tough one.

1985 I s'pose that was when it all started with mountain bikes. I've been grinning ever since.

93 was a good year, started with John Moores Uni Club and brought my Zaskar LE shortly after
98 was another, saw the light and returned to hardtails.
07......I discovered this place...........is that a good thing? :?

But these are just highlights, I've loved bikes since I stuck fat tyres on a 3 speed 3rd hand Raleigh in 1977 (Clunkers did exist in the UK) and bombed around the woods with me mates building jumps

That must mean the answer is.........

1977 to ...........infinity and beyond!

92 was my best year because...

I came out of the army in late 91 after the great war (pronounced farce) got a job in my local bike shop after spending a fortune in there, I bought a GT pantera which i ran for about 2 months till i was star struck with the new Bravado that came in, So i got rid of the Pantera bought the Bravado, Jacked the job in, Ditched the girlfriend, and went riding for a year.

Best year ever!!!

1994- most miles ever cycled in one year- I was Fick as Fut.........

97 Getting my first lot of commission and purchasing my dream bike Pace RC200, still mine today

This year - getting back in the saddle! after seven years rest.
