Its silly and worthless so sell it to me...! joking.. Its definately a crud designs coghog , personally I think on tight cable runs, for instance bikes with small rear frame triangles.. a good solution.
Also as someone said smoother v brakes.. personally on my old Konas I have them on rear derailleur, and rear v brake.
I have chunky legs and originally I fitted one to the brake to help with clearance as they are way narrower than the noodle...
I think in both cases they ease the cable run on the longer runs.
With the front brake it seems pointless the cable is so short to not have that resistance and of course no issues with fat legs!
I like them, ive tried the Avid rollamjig, which looks bulky , modern and therefore crap.. its does nothing better..
As for mud or servicing, dried mud etc.. not an issue for me as I get my bikes minging but never put them away dirty.. so no idea.
