What's the Imperial equivalent of a 32mm H/S spanner

My Gillott has a Gnutti H/S so around 1940s-1950s.

The top nut on the H/S is a bit loose and a 32mm H/S Spanner does not fit the nut correctly.

Measuring the top nut with an electronic vernier it measures 1.25" or 31.9mm.

I've looked on nut/bolt conversion sites around the sizing to try and figure out an imperial size Spanner but can't make any sense of conversions tables.

Please can someone tell me what size imperial Spanner will do the job.

Re:

Is this one of those trick questions? i'm i going to get a buzz when i say an answer and get it wrong?

1.25" is decimal for 1 1/4" (inch and a quarter)

Therefore id say spanner size is 1 1/4" AF (inch and a quarter across the flats)?

Try gluing a 0.1mm shim on the jaw of the 32mm if you haven't got a imperial spanner to fit. Might not look pretty but as my wwII 8th army veteran grandfather used to say "it'll get you out the desert"

if the nut measures 31.9 then the spanner is sloppy made.
