whats the best year for retro mountain bike manufacture?

Re:

I initially thought that, but if you reword the question and ask "What years influenced mountain biking for you?" Would come back with some interesting answers, which is why I put pre '97......cause I found a woman then!

Re:

for me I guess it has to be 1992/93 ....it holds mythical powers
somehow I own four from these years alone, and they're all the ones I couldn't part with

the geometry on earlier frames by enlarge leave me cold, and post 97/98 it just goes off the boil until you get the big wheel era ........where by it goes stone cold.

Silly question in my opinion.

maybe in your opinion and you could rephrase the question in several ways. I too (until recently) had an 1989 kona but its the 92 bikes I wouldn't part with, the geometry across many manufacturers seemed become more race/XC orientated.

interesting to see above that theres a common admiration for the 92 era!

Its the years when music meant something, drugs didnt kill you, summers were hot, dry and lasted (seemingly) forever.

Not these days when its one long autumn and bikes are, well, a whole 'nother thread there.
