What year Dave Yates

Re:

My Diabolo, which is full MaxOR, is #7512. That's probably no help whatsoever. It has a 1" headtube and canti's, so might give an indication, given it's a good ~2000 builds on from yours and probably no later than '94-'95? If indeed that's how it works.

That's a good bit of info Matt,if yours is that and Si's is frame number 5850 and mines 5997 it's starting to narrow it down a bit. Also with you mentioning what tubing yours is it's reminded me to ask Dave and find out what was used on mine, cheers mate.

Looking forward to seeing this get built up, reminds me that I should get started on my Diabolo project  !

Re:

Thats a great project you have there mate. I would say the frame is about 93-94 as I don't think he did that paint scheme before that as it was used to launch the Donkis Nob (if I've got my information correct)!

Going to look cool when its finished, I just hope you manage to get all the bits off without too much trouble...

Re:

Drum roll please,TA DA :D two down one to go :D :D

After giving them a good soaking for a few days in some penetrating fluid the post and bottom bracket are finally out. Surprisingly though they didn't really put up a fight, all i used was a big pipe wrench and my metre long scaffold bar to get them freed up. After that the bb tool and ratchet for the bb and the wrench to get the post out, maybe today was my lucky day  The ahead stem adapter on the other hand is being a complete t##t :D and will not budge,so i've called time for today and will beat it into submission tomorrow. Everything will need a good clean but first signs are looking good with the bottom bracket. So once the adapter is out i'll get a build thread started and fire some emails to Dave Yates and see if i can get any info.

Gio that makes sense with the year if they used it on the donkisnob first, maybe the original owner liked the paint job of it and had to have this done the same.

Good work. Is there any damage to the frame or threads?

It doesn't look to bad in and around the bottom bracket, but i'll give it a good clean with a wire brush and see what it reveals.

Re:

Excellent.

Stem should be easiest as its easy to get to, to soak it top and bottom in penetrating oil

Take your time!
