Old School Hero
first off, i know im a whatmybikelookslike whore. :)

I have a P7.
here is said p7:
P7300135.jpg

I have decided to keep it in its nickel plated glory ( i was going to spray it, but the good members of RB and my girlfriend have convinced me otherwise). My first question is what colour should i make the wheels?

I currently have a rocking-horse-poo (in oz anyway) black WI ENO laced to a ritchey rim(black) with sapim spokes (silver) rear. and a wrecked XT parallax/mavic front.

the options im considering are(for single speed, ill get a different set when i mix it up and put gears on it):
1. source matching black WI front hub, build up with revo black spokes, XM317 black rims and purple nipples.
2. get polished silver front/rear WI hubs, silver revos, silver 317s and purple nipples.
3. black spokes + hubs, silver rims, purple nipples.
Im being swayed towards the full silver option, but it would require me to sell the black hub to replace with silver, which kind of sucks.

My second question is, what brakes should i use.
I am looking at a set of paul touring cantis in silver or black(which colour also?). i like the pauls because they use v pads/holders.
but i also like the idea of finding a set of retro brakes like onzas. any other suggestions? my requirements is that they must work, and be around 100GBP max.

*EDIT* NEW QUESTION!
what colours controls should i have?
I have the original stem and post to put back on, but i was thinking about a black syncros set.what do people think of that?
thanks RBUK.
Asher.

Yep,gotta be black for the wheels and the brakes :D Keep a look out for Onza HO's I picked up a NOS set in black a while ago for £30! They are a bit prone to cracking though

Bike looks great! I'm building a drop handle Kona Lava Dome up. I found c. 1990 NOS Pedersen Self Energizer brakes for it on ebay - and the seller has more. These are love-hate brakes; do a forum search. (Set-up right, on a bike that likes them, they can reputedly lift a tandem's rear wheel off the ground with braking force...) I'm not sure what colours the guy has and the brakes are front and rear specific - you might have to accept a mis-match. PM me if you want an intro.

thanks:D
the drop bars were only put on because they had the only short pull levers i could find(for free:p). i like them so much now im going to keep them.

IS this the seller?

when i spoke to him he didnt have a purple set. it appears he does now. hmmmmm, tempting, except the purple ones look forged while the silvers are cnced?

Velocity Deep Vs in orange.

woooo another aussie. sadly i must disagree, i remember seeing this somewhere and it has stuck with me.

"friends dont let friends ride velocity deep Vees"

ive pretty much vowed never to put veloocity DV rims on any bike i own ever.

And another Aussie here also. I'm in Sydney.
I recon some control tech cantilevers would look good. I agree the paul stuff is nice but the control techs also use V pads. I have just taken mine off my road bike (1986 shogun team issue) and will put them on a Rocky mountain that has cable hangers for canti's. My road bike will end up with the V's.
Here is a pic for you.
