For me it was that F W Evans / Saracen that appeared in an advert in BMX Action mag back in 84. I started saving that very week. Two years later I walked into a BMX shop in Doncaster for a BMX tyre and saw a Cannondale SM600 in bright green. It was like nothing I had ever seen- those huge tubes and lovely fillets. I was instantly smitten. I handed over every last penny I had as a deposit and returned 12 weeks later with the balance. Over two years of shitty weekend jobs, three paper rounds and some help from Dad and she was mine. Loved it. Still do. Might ride it at the weekend.

Nowt too high-end, but a 1989 Saracen Tufftrax in my LBS. Then my brother bought one, got bored and flogged it to me for a knock down price (basically whatever cash I had because he wanted to get p$ssed with his mates - he was 17). It was too big for me because I was 11, but I loved it nonetheless. Then my mate got a Roberts Dogs Bolx and I wanted it soooo bad...
