Remember the Rusthopper? Nitanium tubing, potentially a great rider.

I fancied treating the rust and carefully washing it off and seeing what effect was left behind, then either wax it or clear lacquer it, or really fancied copper plating it some how. I'm playing with the idea of powder coating it too, a few colour ideas, what you think?

Bear in mind it has probably been in a vice, i expect its still strong n good though would show a bit on a shiny finish.

Forks are Bent so got options of black tough rigids or burnt orange Marz Z1's 1997/8

Would make a capable but discrete do it all, or could go all out creative on it?

Go on creative people and recyclers what you reckon?

Give it a random coat for now and wait for technology to improve.

Alternatively, get it cleaned up, nicely fill that dent with filler, put on a light layer of regular grey base coat (so that the filler and other imperfections are still visible, then put a matte clearcoat over the entire thing.
(I know for sure that PPG has matte clearcoat, I assume other brands have it too)

Thanks, great input, There was a retro BMW done in copper somehow and looked great with a little patina, that's what gave me the idea.
Now I've searched many have done it though but it's going to be pricey to go pro, especially as it's not a posh frame and it's not even 100% perfect.

Part of the prob seems to be that it needs polishing to plate, as I asked my polisher company about chrome.

I'm now thinking of a semi transparent candy style powder coat or something. that way some rust festering will still be hanging around once age sets in again and/or any rust scars from now will be visable textures.

I seem to recall copper plating stuff in school using copper sulphate? Must be possible to do at home quite cheaply

One of the electrodes needs to be the same as the metal being deposited, piecr of copper piping should suffice..
