what threaded headset with sealed bearing ?

Hello,

Could you advise me a threaded headset 1 1 / 8 " with sealed bearing, I know the Chris King GripNut , but it's too expensive for me.

The Tioga headset originally fitted on my Diamondback
Axis 1991 is of poor quality, it is not waterproof.

There is an xtr in this thread for £30, pretty certain they are sealed bearings and light too.

Conventional ball bearings + cone xtr they are also sealed cartridge bearings that the ChrisKing?

you know a headset with cartridge bearings?

My mistake, I thought you meant cartridge style The xtr uses a sealed cartridge bearing pressed into an aluminium cup. . . . I think. The bearings themselves are sealed.

They aren't cup and cone.

Can anyone confirm, I am basing this on my dura-ace which I believe is the same.

The confusion arises when "sealed" refers to a couple of elastic type bands to stop dirt getting in!




These are double sealed apparently. I am guessing that means cartridge bearings PLUS a rubber seal of some type!

You could try and find a Shimano LX, STX or XT headset from ´95 or so.....

Sorry dude, I always thought xtr was the same as dura ace 7410 for some reason!

Not available as 1 1/8 though I dont think.

7410 was available later part of 90's so other shimano around that time perhaps?

Evans is a large multiple that's been going for a long while, so I don't think you'll have any problems.
