After building my pipedream scion using mostly xo parts I was not happy with the x9 front mech as it was silver and not black like the rest of the kit. Ive not been able to find a front mech with a clamp as skinny as needed so have two options aside from sticking with the shimmed x9, and am hoping some wise heads can confirm which is the best option.
Option 1: stick with the shimmed x9
Option 2: use an endless band style x0 mech with the above shim
Option 3: use a direct mount (top) x0 mech with a frame clamp adapter in the correct diameter and bolt the direct mount mech to it.
My head says option 3, just wanted confirmation that this is the best way to go.
