im running one of my bikes with a 32/16t at the moment. i find i cant get up much speed on it sometimes though, but i want a good all rounder as its quite hilly around here.

so what are you guys running/ what would you reccomend? i will have to stick with the 32t chainring though, as i cant go any bigger

Cheers, sean

32/18 here - gets me up most anything and doesn't spin out too much. I do try to keep off tarmac whenever possible though! I would rather spin out occasionally than have to walk up hills, a bit of leg speed is good for your technique anyway ;)

can you go any smaller than 16? but then you wont get up hills, twingle speed it

Yeah you can pull an old cassette apart and then you got a selection of sizes too

I find 32/16 is pretty good alround ratio but can be difficult to get up much speed on going down hills or on the flats

32:17. I would happily run 32:16 round here though. It depends immensely on where you live. Spinning faster is good for suppleness.

Re:

On the cindercone i just went with what was the magic ratio... 36:11, but it wore slicks and was purely a street warrior
