what side is your front brake?

Just been looking in the "retro bike you saw" thread and noticed that a lot have the front brake on the left.

But all these years ive had mine on the right. Probably due to me riding motorbikes , but i've never noticed it before till tonight

the first thing my mate does is set his brakes up the wrong way round. i have riding his bikes

i'm weird! i am right handed in some things and left in other - left is definitely my dominant side cycling though
 
Front brake right always, the same as it is on a motorcycle.

AFAIK, the original idea of brake placement was to allow you to cover the rear brake while signalling to cross the opposite lane (that'll be turning right for us then...).
Obviously for the most of rest of the world this was reversed. I still don't know why they don't get over this though and use the front/right motorcycle convention.
