What product for ingrained rim filth?

Really, really stuck on! Spray on degreaser? Or maybe alloy wheel cleaner? Anyone had success with a certain product?

Peek or Autosol metal Polish usually lifts it off.

WD40 for the first go, then turps or white spirit, then it gets down to hard work

Are we talking about on the braking surface? If so I always get good results with my Mavic Rim cleaning 'sponge':
