What Make Is This Lightweight?

H60

Retro Newbie
Hi, I’ve been looking for a Worrall bike for a while and came across this. I just about knew at time of purchase it was not correct but took a chance on it. 60% confirmed not a Worrall.
Can anyone shed a light on what it is?

Don't know the make but it's a decent quality lightweight with Ekla lugs, so late 1940s or maybe early 50s.

Hi, Cheers for reply. Just last night I’ve found a picture of a Flying Scot which is very similar frame. I’m told there were some very early Scot’s which had frame numbers on bottom bracket without letters. Could be it dates back to 1936. I’ve contacted Bob Reid of flying-Scot.com and hope he perhaps can confirm this. My frame also appears to have Rattray’s patented headset as well. It is confusing why it’s been dressed as a Worrall.
Cheers

Yes, I believe Ekla lugs were available in the '30s (not absolutely certain though), and they were used by a great many frame makers, so not easy to identify individual frames. The headset is very unusual, and a sort of hybrid that I haven't seen before, but obviously intended for a stem without an expander bolt. This could well be a pointer to the maker if this is a Rattray type.
In the 1930s most frames would have used cup type races for the headset, distinguished by a bulge at the top and bottom of the head tube, but I have seen 1930s frames with a pressed in type headset, so there are exceptions.

Cheers again, Any information is helpful as I’m relatively new to vintage bikes although loving every minute of it.
Hopefully Bob from Scot website will get back soon and be able to help with identifying this frame (or not).

Cheers
