What is....

43mph on a Marin Palisades converted to drop bars with 4 loaded panniers and a bar bag, while touring in Australia.

Fastest offroad on it was 39mph with knobblies in Hamsterley Forest.

when i used to ride to southampton from home everyday in my 20's (16miles each way) in the morning i used to pass the exit from the esso refinery and could easily sit on the back corner of the tankers. on the dual carriage way they got to 56mph (limited) i could tail them in their slipstream for almost 10 miles! the passing cars on the dual carriage way used to look over in amazement as it was quite a regular thing to see as i used to see the same bunch of cars everyday. the HR manager saw me once and she had ago at me at work!

other than drafting i used to beable to sprint to over 40 but the fastest i have had is going down a hill on the island of lanzarote. i was staying on the opposite side of the island to club la santa, my daily ride was from the chalet, up a huge climb then across the lava fields in the club la santa direction and then a loop and back, the climb became the descent and it was steep with on 3 bends in total but they were fast flowing bends, if you hit the last bend at 35mph which was easy you could then really open it up to go faster and you could see so far ahead you could time the crossing of the main road (which had hardly any traffic) and just keep going! awesome fun and such a high!

i hit 56mph according to my computer, i didn't clear it off there for ages so i could show all my mates! :D

Not sure about my top speed as I've never used a speedo.
And it's not as fast as the rest but my Dad did once get stopped for speeding on the A396 coming in to Tiverton in Devon. The limit was 30. I've been trying to emulate him ever since but now matter how fast I go I just can't attract the attention of the police!!!

 ....i keep trying to activate the camera near me....im unsure if i have succeeded at i darent turn to look!.....

87 km/h (54 mph) indicated on a flat road while drafting behind a truck. Bulls Sport 3.50 on 2.35" Schwalbe Big Apples and a 52/11 gearing.

Note: I would strongly advise anyone not to draft behind cars/trucks/busses. If anything goes wrong at those speeds or if you hit a pothole, it's game over.

Fairly sure I used to hit in the 45+ region on the Zaskar (on road), have to check back through my cycling diary from the day.

One of the fastest on my Saracen was 42ish (I think) - yes with cantis, on knobblies, on a damp, muddy road - I know how fast it was because I checked the trip computer and checked the max speed shortly after I'd picked both myself and the tangled mess of bike out of the middle of the road shortly afterwards. Bloody drain lids. :)

Ooo good idea we have a gatso on a hill by me......Now where did I put that 48t ring :?:

Not on the mtb (don't have a clock on my mtb), but did 97 kmh (60 mph) on my road bike down the Mt. Ventoux. Was thinking to myself, will I make 100, but then I saw the turn ahead nearing very fast and hit the breaks.
That was in my younger years and before I became a dad, so don't think I'll break my record any time soon (if ever).
