this is a bike I've own for years. it's at least 16 years old since it's older than me. recently I've been searching about what model the bike is. it writes 「diamondback traverse」, but it just doesn't match the picture of traverse which I found on websites.
This sort of thing was built up in China, sold wholesale, and often badged up by chainstores, basic sports brands etc and retail well below anything from the big bike brands.

Frequently referred to as a BSO
If you do a Google image search, you'll find the same framed bike with many names you've never heard of, and almost identical equipment, featuring even the same paint under the stickers.
They feature pressed-up steel hubs, plastic brake levers, steel cranks, and rarely survive significant use, making them rare at 20YO
I do agree, this is just a BSO,
but potentially even one sold as DiamondBack...
Come on, to me already since 1997, when the name and decals have been changed from "Diamond Back" to "Diamondback", this brand got crap, but at least after been sold to Derby in 1999.
