What Headset? Cannondale M900

Hi all. Tried to use the search but couldn't find a definitive answer. Just got this M900 Killer V and the headset seems finicky. It's one of those Diatech headsets without a starnut and I can't seem to get the slack out of it so would like to try and get a new one fitted. I think the bike is a 97/98. Anyone know if it has a standard 1 1/8th headset or will it be some funny sized one like they fitted to some 'dales?

Those headsets are awful. If it's 1 1/8th you can replace it with any suitable similar item plus you'll be fitting a star washer & top cap.
Looking at your bike I think it is after Cannondale dropped 1 1/4" (1.25") steerers. My 93 M1000 is that size, threaded.

Killer V headset is 1-1/8" if anything but -94 (or Headshok model). Those DiaTech are PITA.
