What elevated chainstay frame?

mech

Retro Newbie
Can you identify the bike frame ? Alpine Stars, Haro,Yeti, Carerra, Merlin, Nishiki and Kirk

Precision have all been suggested, but none seem right. Note the tapered, curved chain stay and

seat stay.

I understand that elevated chainstay designs were in fashion in the early 1990s and that the same

frame may have been badged with many makers names

I doubt any of the components shown are original - it had a Girvin Flexstem cheap copy when I

bought it for £30 which I have replaced with a real one - please no comments !

If it helps, the frame no is HCBC 03797

Looks like a carrera catalyst to me- approx 94, reprayed. They were originally silver at the front, metalic blue towards the rear. The chainstays look a lot like fork blades when you look close on a Catalyst.
Would have (asuming it is a C C ) been 200gs equipped, frame made of Hi Ten. Looks like a 20 c to t.
The townsend e stay bikes of the period looked abit different, more like a Saracen. Ironic, 'cos the better carrera's of the period, especially the Quattro Pro - the top of the line and an estay design, were built by Saracen at the time.
Hope that helps.

BITD we called the Nishiki Alien knock-offs "illegal Aliens."

Rimshot.

It's okay, I was just leaving anyway.

.

Another name to conjur with 'CyclePro'...?

Not to steal a thread - but here's another 'unknown' e-stay, captured in Ibiza town at the end of September....

Carerra Catalyst

Sounds like Stuflyer's identification could be right, but I've still never seen a pic of another. Googleing 'Carerra Catalyst' come up with exhaust attachments for Porches ! So has anyone got a photo of a Carerra Catalyst ?

thanks
