What do you think?

I have a mint condition orange vit t2 totally standard catalogue spec, it is unmarked and as such I am reluctant to use it in fear that I may damage it. My dilemma is this; do I just throw caution to the wind and ride it or buy another bike, perhaps more modern, to use as a daily?

Sounds amazing, get some pictures up!

Difficult one, gut says use it. But if it’s that mint, preserve.

No use it!

Re:

Hard question to answer. Obviously it was made to be ridden BUT, given it's survived many years & remained in superb condition could you live with yourself if you marked it / damaged it? Which leads to the question are you happy just to have it a something to look at /own?

Exactly, its mint but I really enjoy riding it as it feels really special, my head is telling me to mothball it but I have just rebuilt the pace forks and it performs brilliantly.
I will get some pics up.

Re:

Sounds to me like your mind is made up ;)
Somethings are just too good to not enjoy.
Looking forward to pictures

no problem in keeping and just looking. Buy a new 26er and enjoy eg Sanderson for example

Re:

What's your first/gut reaction to the following....

"GET OUT AND RIDE IT!"

If your happy at that thought, question answered.
If your pissed at that thought, question answered.

A bit pink and fluffy thinking but go with your gut and do what brings a smile to your face. You're right or you're wrong whichever way but it's your bike so enjoy it!

Its obvious what you should do...…
BUY ANOTHER ONE in poorer condition,
Put lots of time and money into restoring it to the same spec as your first, then ride the new one and keep the mint one on the wall in your living room.

If you haven't already I think you should get some pics taken & create a thread for it in Readers MTB's ;)

I'd ride it. It'll not be yours forever & it'll likely get binned or ridden by someone else in the future.
