I absolutely detest internal cabling but that has no bearing whatsoever on this topic.

....because you've got to disconnect those pesky internally routed disc brakes to get to anything if your cheap bearing goes crunchy or lion bar

Disc brakes MUST be internally routed? Fairly sure that’s not true.

No rim braked bikes have internal cable routing? Pretty sure that’s nonsense as well.
