What do you consider to be the best retro MTB stem?

Most Ti stems, i quite like Dean stems but usually because they are on Dean frames :)
A stem with noodle always looks right too regardless of make.

softride super retro suspension stems, probably the most retro stem out there

Klein mission control handlebar or Charlie Cunningham stem for innovation, badass-ness and won't-look-right-on-another-bike individuality.

Re:

From the aluminium stems I think the best stem is made by Syncros. The welds are perfect and form follows function in a very visible way. I think the design is very clear and honest. And the width and strength of the handlebar clamp is unmatched.

From the steel stems the Salsa and Ibis stems are great. From the titanium stems I'd take a Litespeed or Ibis, depending the build.

Agree that the Syncros Cattleprod and A-Tac stems are nice and really reflect the '90s well.

Myself I have a penchant for X-Lite L168

Some really good suggestions, keep them coming guys!

If I can't find a Salsa in the right length then I may well go for a Litespeed titanium stem or a Syncros.

Re:

ControlTech always fit the bill for me - loads of sizes and lengths available, look great fitted too

Quite easy to get hold of in comparison to some of the others as well.

Here's one of my favourite stems of all time, the titanium Girvin Flex Stem bar+stem combo:
