What bike shops would you go out of your way to visit?

I don't bother going into bikes shops at all now - probably because I'm never going to be buying anything from them and, even if I do know a few of the guys who work in them, they don't encourage people to just lig around and natter. (Unlike in gentler, kinder times.. :roll: )
It's not just bike shops mind, music shops and photographic shops seem to have gone the same way too.

Southdowns Cycles - Angmering

Hmm... I had a small nightmare with the Storrington branch, prefer using Blazing Saddles in Rustington myself,

Storrington branch are crap sent my clock work in to have the BB chased out after a respray and thay put a scratch down the down tube, and dident say anything, just wraped it back up and sent it back, when i did point this out to them they dis sort out a new respray. Blazing Saddles can be a bit arrogent but ever since I rode with them once or twice they are fine now.

I sent my Stumpy into the Storrington branch to have my nice shiny new Maverick forks, and disc brake fitted as well as build me a new front wheel due to the Mavs weird front axle size - got the bike back and as you probably know there's quite a steep slope to the road? Pay my cash, hop on the bike and quickly realise the stem hadn't been done up on the steerer!!! Sorted that out and then quickly realised that me asking them to 'sort the brakes out' meant 'bolt them on the bike' not adjust them in any way - I could have done that! Haven't trusted them since!

Also worth noting the chap who owns Southdowns Bikes is an ex used car dealer who knows nada about bikes, not greatly relevant but evidently a good salesman!
