I use Paselas in 27 x 1 on my "fast" bikes. They are beautiful looking tyres, and comfortable too. Ive had a couple of punctures over the ten years or so Ive been riding on them, but never the explode and crash type. If I keep the current wheels I’m very tempted by those. Although I’m considering trying a pair of age appropriate 700c wheels I have. I just have to see if I like it as a 4 speed or convert it back to fixed gear....I’m hoping to collect the bike next week, so then I can start fettling. Thank you for the tyre suggestion....

I've now got the bike. There is very limited clearance at the back, so it would need to be 27 x 1" luckily the bike came with 3 new spare tyres, so hopefully I'll be OK for a bit....
