Wes Mason 531

Nabbed this a week or so ago and received it yesterday. It's one of the nicest frames i've had the pleasure of owning. 531 tubes, campag dropouts, lug lining, lots of chrome (I think the frameset is fully chromed as well!). Looks like the top tube has a little ding, but not too bothered considering the rest of the frame. It's a little bit of a shame, though.

The plan is to build it up for my wife as long as it fits her - it's pretty small so hopefully it should fit her to pootle around on. She currently has a Pashley Princess and it's way to heavy for her!

I think a simple 5/6/7 speed should do her well.

It couldn't really get any smaller, could it? Not with a horizontal top tube and 700c wheels, anyway. How long's the seat tube?

That's really lovely and while nob is right about it popping with a rechrome and lacquer, I like the patina myself.
I also like the size what with being vertically challenged myself.

Don't come across much UK chromovelato . Is the front a 650 size? Maybe Johnny69 is right in that it's a TT bike.... Step forward from the the Ultimate?

It's a very small frame IMHO. The front and rear dropouts are on the same level when the top tube is also level and there is no extended seat tube. To be used as a lo-pro the seat pillar would have to be rather long! It is rather nice and the technique used to get it so small is very clever. I wonder who did the finishing for Wes for this frame?

It is interesting, the down tube looks to have been fillet brazed to the top tube/head tube junction. I've seen this technique used by Roberts.
