Welding help needed in West Yorks - stuck BB

Weld a section of 20mm box to it and then slide a rod of some sort in to get the leverage.

Looks bloomin' scary though.

Ok mate, if you are happy with it. Sorry if I sound patronising but make sure you use it the correct way round - with the force on the fixed jaw or you could snap it, seen it happen a few times! Good luck and keep us posted on the progress - I do enjoy an engineering problem!
 
Is there enough to grab hold of the cup in a vice, then use the frame as leverage? Had to do a similar thing myself.

I've got a full workshop in Leeds if needs be, not a welder though.
 
Ok thanks for everyone's advice and offers of help. I have sent the frame off to the person who has bought it from me (it was sold understanding it had this issue) and he is going to have a crack at it following some of the advice on this thread.

As the new owner of this problem I have to say that the photos just don't do it justice...it's even more impressive in the flesh :LOL:

Round one of man vs b/b was yesterday with gibbleking's method above tried out.....Round one was won by the b/b however :roll:

Round two is scheduled for next week at a friends enginering workshop when it's going to get some 23mm hexhead bolts welded onto the b/b....and if that doesn't work then a short length of box section steel will be used along with a length of steel bar......

This frame WILL get rebuilt

Nice original paint and in really good nick apart from stuck BB.

BB area (pictures make it look horrific, isn't much better in real life but frame is ok in this area)

I agree...and I'll do my best to get pics up for Round Two...

....as for Round One.....try and imagine some bluntened Tungsten Carbide drillbits and lots of sweat,elbow grease and some very colourful and probably archaic Anglo Saxon.......go on....I know you can ;)
