Weird lines on Mavic 217 SUP rims

Uff I own the 220, and are ok for now, but I´m very scared because I have last month discover this .... And a closer isnpection reveals 6 more of this cracks in one rim so no reparable with weld because it will appear everywere. If I have in the mavic too I will give up with old school stuff. It is sad to see :(

Quite a lot of retro rims out there are living well beyond their expected lifetimes, even if they aren't thrashed.

And the cleverer and lighter it is, the shorter the expected lifespan.
You don't put extra metal on a racing rim - and if it's designed to last one racing season, the second could easily kill it😬

They don’t make stuff like they used to. So much junk in the 2020s. These rims from 1880s are still fine. Clean them up and replace the rusted to thin wire spokes. IMG_1296.jpeg IMG_1295.jpeg IMG_0195.jpeg IMG_0198.jpeg
1950s respoked drop center rims. IMG_1276.jpeg
