Way off topic... ipod volume.... yes, really!

Has anyone sync'd an older ipod recently and found that new tracks are lower volume (with the gadget's volume on full) than the rest? Mine's been doing this recently and it's rather frustrating.

Have you tried going into the settings in itunes and clicking the equalise volume setting?

Yep, just done that, going to see how it goes in the car in a moment once it's been plugged into the stereo system, finger's crossed

IIRC there are EU volume restrictions that you can bypass. Try Googling it.

jailbreaking the iphone removes all EU volume restrictions doesn't it??

so would that work for an ipod (touch) as well??

Jailbreaking a EU ipod will remove the volume limit, i've done it, it makes a small difference.

You could try renaming a tune already on your ipod, import it to the player again and compare the 2. Maybe the new ver of itunes has different eq or normalizing.

For volume and sound quality my Cowon D2 blows away the ipod.
