Waxoyling a vinatge P7 help.

Hi all.

I have finally been able to rub down my Orange P7 and managed to get all the yellowing nickel plate off it. So I am left with the beautiful steel/chrome frame in all its naked splendour. I have been advised to waxoyl the inside of the frame. Has anyone done this before? Could you share any tips?

Also what have some of you used to protect the outside of your frames?

Any advice would be appreciated.

When you say yellowing nickel plate, I assume you mean the lacquer on top of the nickel? You can protect it in several ways:
1 Re-lacquer it
2 Wax like car polish
3 Wash with Pantene shampoo (seriously, a jeweller friend does it for silver and his Ducati 916) - the shampoo has silicone in it.

For the inside try JD Weigle Framesaver or Technitrol. Both are lighter and runnier than Waxoyl. If using waxoyl then warm it up in hot water, have the frame warm and do it on a sunny day.

Hi there. Yes I think it was the liqueur? What I am left with is the steel/chrome frame. Re heating up the Waxoyl why do you do that?

I bought the waxoyl in a spray can.

Does this dry out over time?

Thanks in advance

Re heating up the Waxoyl why do you do that? Yhe spray will atomise a bit better and the Waxoyl will be a little runnier thus getting into all the nooks and cranny's.

I bought the waxoyl in a spray can. Sit the can in warm water and remember to give it a good shake.

Does this dry out over time? Not really which you want.

Thanks in advance[/quote]
