OK folks, just a quickie to let anyone who cares know that I got the bike in the end and payed cash on collection. The guy seemed really decent too. Thanks to the power of eBay I now have my Raleigh DHO. I'll post it up in the post 1998 area...

I took it for a little thrash on the XC trails around Bristol. It was hard work on a full blown DH build with a 48tooth front ring but I loved evry minute.

Oh and thanks for the advice from you guys. It was much appreciated.

That's great news, really glad you got sorted, and that you're enjoying the bike ... welcome to the money pit!

So I guess you were both being cautious and a bit suspicious (ebay will do that to you) and it lead to looking shady, probably from both sides? Had a similar thing recently where an eBay seller and I were dancing around each other both thinking that the other was dodgy, he turned out to be a nice fella too! :facepalm:
