Wanted resto project, must be willing to post to uk.

Hello I am usually to be found amongst the skinny tyred masses, but I want to do a resto project on a decent 90's hardtail as a gift for my dad (I'm not looking free, just that this isn't something to be punted on ebay after). He is 5'9 - 5'10. Maybe an early 531 mtb or an mtrax. Price depends on bike, but we arent talking fortunes here lol.

What have you down the back of the shed?

1991 GT tequesta in 'Purple Haze'. I picked it up recently, but it's too big for me at 18", but should be bang on for your dad?

Mainly original, the paint is pretty good, but has it's share of chips etc.

Original parts;
frame, forks, stem, headset, seatpost (not seized) saddle, bars, grips (but cut to acccomodate bar ends) tyres, front wheels, cranks, BB, FM; All suntour kit.

Non original;
Rear wheel, rear mech, shifters.

It's complete, but needs a good going over (BB has a little play, cables need doing). Nice bike with a little work TBH. Not curruntly rideable, but only because of cables and BB, possibly a new chain too.

I can get pics if you're interested?

Re:

Thanks for the replies. That roberts is amazing but its more than he needs, im thinking something like a 531 mountain bike or an m trax or something like that, under 100 max.

Re:

I have a Marin Team issue superlight steel frame which I can bundle some parts with if you're keen? The frame is 18.5" c-t so probably fit nicely, it needs some resto work (wire wool or sand blast?) to remove the surface rust but it's structurally sound and would build into a lovely bike again. Not after mega money either as it all needs to go.
