I fancy refurbing an older tourer/racer. I've got a nice set of freshly built 27" wheels stashed which need a bike.

Ideally looking for a complete bike in large/medium size. Condition unimportant as long as the seatpost etc. moves freely... plan to do some upgrades and modernising (sort of).

Up for anything good quality at the right price (ideally sub £100), not looking for anything too fancy/precious. Am in S. Devon, would collect within 100 miles or so depending on what you got...

what you got?

Re:

Been offered some stuff that's too nice really for what I had in mind. Open to fairly mid/low end stuff - a Galaxy would be nice (and I suggested one because there are lots about, and it's the right sort of geometry/spec) but I'm ok with un-named tubing as long as it's not gas pipe. So something like a Falcon Black Diamond would be good enough. British Eagle etc...

I just missed out on a Dawes Shadow that would have done the trick. I quite like Dawes low end frames.

70s/80s era. Ideally something with fairly low end components attached, steel wheels and huret mech sort of thing (but bonus points for weinmann centre pulls) and almost ridable but good enough to benefit from modest upgrades to make it more ridable.

Needs to be under 24" seat tube (c-t) and designed for 27" wheels.

Bad paint welcomed. Nothing too shiny please.

It's quite a specific ask but someone must have something hiding in the shed...
