x2, hopefully with people like Joe behind Mr Apps he can be inducted this year.

Sent my voting papers back yesterday.

It's great to have your backing Joe. Especially when considering how many inductees you have successfully backed in the past.

Geoff is very modest and though I have known him for over 25 years he only talks about the early days when specifically asked. I only learned about the links to the US pioneers about five years ago when James Walters told the story on the Cleland website.

Geoff isn't into self promotion and so is not well known, nor is his story. But his bikes are good even by modern standards, and as you say, his recognition is long overdue.

I've just come across this thread; THANKS GUYS!

Just been out today surveying an area of steep woodland for suitable singletrack. There are no complete tracks around here, stunning terrain, lots of trails, but no circuits. I spent three months earlier this year on a nice circuit, but, so far, I'm the only one to ride it.
And now I'm about to start another one...when do I get old?

Any members in the Duns/Borders area like a techy ride, but NOT FAST!

I`ll go for that , just say when and where, if I`m not working I`ll join you.

That's good!

I'm away to Germany (off-road cycling paradise - right to cycle wherever you want, paths and tracks everywhere, few fences, and the need to open and close gates almost non-existent) for three weeks, so it would probably be better to leave it until early August.

Also, Graham Wallace (and family) is coming up to stay in Alnwick mid-August, so a ride around Thrunton would be good. Any takers for that?

Weekend better than weekday?

The $20 is really a way for the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame to raise money for its museum which is a registered charity.

This is the first time that non-US residents can join via PayPal. Previously you had to post a cheque in US$ in order to join.

On the plus side the $20 does mean that only committed supporters will bother voting. If voting were free and open to non-members the results might be even more US weighted than now.

I suspect that the number of votes cast for successful induction may not be very large. In 1999, a campaign by Joe Breeze successfully inducted the then unknown 1950's French pioneers known as the VCCP, into the Hall of Fame.

The only Brit currently inducted is the racer Tim Gould, though he was internationally renowned.

Geoff is well known and respected amongst the US pioneers some of whom are prepared to support Geoff in preference to strong American nominees.

We also have the support of people in the UK cycle trade and cycle journalists who know of Geoff and his remarkable bicycles and inventions.

Last years nomination was a long shot. This year we are in the running.

A last-minute-reminder: You must have your Mountain Bike Hall of Fame Ballots in the mail and posted by Friday, July 16th.

If you haven't done so already, go to: http://www.mtnbikehalloffame.com/
Click on "Nominees," then go to "Join the MBHOF" and fill out the membership form. You can pay by PayPal. The MBHOF will email your ballot to you in time to vote.

Your singular vote for Geoff Apps will carry the best chances for the desired result.

BTW, here's a shot I took of Graham Wallace at Bike Radar Live at Brands Hatch last Saturday. He's on his 1981 Cleland.

-Joe

Inductees will be announced next week on Friday, July 23rd.

Joe, thanks again for supporting Geoff.

Here's some stills of you and my Cleland taken at Bike Radar. What a coincidence that frame builder Jeremy Torr, who made my Clelands' frame, was also there. Could be a good omen for MTBHoF!

It's now raining here. And the dust has already turned back into mud.

Bad luck Geoff
