I just love the Irish sense of humour Richard, I spent so much time out there working as a mechanic on Bike races (FDB Milk RAS & the 3 day in Killorgan, etc) & have loads of friends all over Ireland because of the cycling.

No unfortunately, Paul Griffin did introduce me to Gene Mangan at the end of one FDB RAS that I worked on.

Billy was a friend of mine. He is a bit famous in my home town - for cycling and other exploits!!! I think there is an interview with Steven Roche where Billy gets a mention - something along the lines of 'if i can beat Kerr, i can with the TdF' LOL.

He died last year - sadly missed.

It may have been a typo but, I have to point out the rear mech is the 851 not 801...the 801 was the silver ano version
