Vittoria Pit Stop

Carry another tub. ;-)

Common Sense tell you as many club riders who use tubs carry a spare or sometimes 2 as they are easy to change on the side of the road rather than messing with inner tubes, tyre levers etc..

That pitstop stuff is rubbish & you get more on the road & yourself rather than inside any tube

it just didn't seem to discharge in it's entirety when i plugged it on to the valve. there was still about half the can left over and it wouldn't take any more..

what a waste of £7!

:?

Obviously I have got this wrong somewhere. I thought that the fluid was permanently in the tube, it seems from what has been said, this is not the case. That is why i asked about removal of the valves.

There are two approaches Caffe latex, Stans, Continental latex, etc live in the tyre and are supposed to seal the inner when it is punctured and keep the tyre inflated.

Pit Stop is in a compressed aerosol type can and lives in your pocket till you get a puncture, then you put it in.

With the latex products you need to remove the core or stem of the valve with a spoke key and put the latex in with a syringe, fit the tub and pump it up.

Of course as pointed out carry a spare at all times. If I'm on a long run I carry one in my pocket and one under the saddle.

Bugloss - thanks for clarifying that - it all makes sense now!!

Is it possible to do any damage when removing the valve core?

Thanks,

Richard

Not if it's a screw in, no. Just do it up tight enough when you re install it as if it's loose the pump will unscrew it.

At least you got to try yours out. I knocked mine off the shelf in the garage t'other day and it must have fallen onto something sharp (and invisible) because the can punctured and I ended with the contents all over the garage floor!

After reading this maybe I won't bother replacing it.
Mark.
