I'd bet most of us had a bike, back in the day, that started our infatuation with mountain bikes of a certain vintage, and informed our idea of what a bike SHOULD look like. And further, I'd bet a few of us still own that bike today, holding a special place in our collection....

Here's a skinny, young, fit me, on my 1995 Stumpjumper M2 FS, first at Mt. Ste. Anne, after encountering Tinker while preriding the course before the race (I raced sportsman) in 1997, and second, me again on a club ride in Woolastook Provincial Park in 1998.
Here's a fatter, older me this summer, out with my wife and kids, teaching them the ways of slickrock, near Millican Lake, NB.
