Here is some information on the magnificent René Herse cycles:
1930: René Herse works for the aircraft manufacturer Bréguet
1936: René Herse makes bicycle parts in dural. But not yet a complete René Herse bicycle.
1937 : Rene Herse and Mrs. Herse participate in the Criterium de l'Auto (Grand prix Duralumin) on a Hurtu tandem.
1938 : Rene Herse participates in the Criterium Cyclotouriste de l'Auto on a Narcisse bike weighing 7.940 kg! Rene Herse
contributes in a decisive way to the design of this bike, in particular the special parts in dural.
1940 : First René Herse bike
1946: René Herse presents a René Herse tandem weighing 12,300 kg at the Duralumin competition.
1946 : René Herse shows his René Herse bikes in his shop, rather than at the Cycle Show.
1946: René Herse bikes take part in the Critérium de la Polymultipliée, and the Four Days of the Road.

1968 Rene Herse demountable. Translation below.
René Herse dismountable bike: you unhook the rear brake cable (the stop is slit),
then you undo the quick releases, after having slid the ring that hides the joint of the lower tube
the upper tube to separate the two halves of the bike.

That is how you do it..... derailleur do this and do it now! 
Personally I could get behind that design, doubles as an oversized chicken skewer should you be feeling peckish on the climbOne for our resident stick shift fetish @Mickeyspinn

Bachelier, very interesting. Fillet brazed. Pump pegs inside the frame. Oval rings, quick release through axles front and rear. Same housings for what appears to be sealed bearings in the b/bkt. Chainwheel inside the frame assembly. Humber did a couple of similar prototypes in the 50's in an attempt to keep the chain deflection to a minimum. Segmented fork ala Orange and segmented stays like an On One. Integral rear rack. Note how long the mudguards are. Actual date unknown. More on next page.
