I don't know the wizardry of translating into in Enlgish like @Guinessisgoodforyou - but Mercier are in the process of ramping up bike production again in France. News blub in 2021 that warmed my heart. Setting up a factory again in the north of France, 270 jobs created.

Mercier news. Translation below.
Mercier cycles relocate their factory to Revin, in the Ardennes: 270 jobs expected.
Mercier cycles have chosen the Ardennes to relocate their production in France. The company announced on Monday 1st February 2021, the opening of a production unit in Revin in the fourth quarter of 2021. Work will begin in March.

On a 6-hectare site, the factory will be set up on the site of the former Porcher factory in a renovated building of 12,000 to 15,000 square metres. The project has received support from the European Union, the State, the Region and the Ardenne Rives de Meuse community of municipalities.
In a press release published on Monday 1 February 2021, Mercier cycles cited "the strong industrial DNA of the Ardennes" and its "easy access via the motorway" to explain this choice of location. The manufacturer, which used to equip Raymond Poulidor, wants to produce mechanical and electric bikes in Revin that are made in France, thanks to industrial partnerships for mechanical and electrical components.

1960s Oscar Egg randonneur. From the online bicycle museum.

Oscar Egg was a famous Swiss racing cyclist who went on to build bicycles. He was very innovative and his machines were well-respected.
The seat tube transfer on Oscar Egg road machines feature the Swiss emblem in the background, with the statement ‘1914 Champion de Suisse’ over a picture of Oscar Egg on his winning bicycle.
Oscar Egg was born on March 2, 1890 in Switzerland, and died on February 9, 1961. He became a professional racer in 1912 and, in 1914, won the Paris-Tours Classic. His one-hour distance record of 44.247 km on 18th June 1914 stood for a further 19 years.
In fact, Egg’s record was not broken by a racing bicycle …but, contentiously, by a recumbent designed by Charles Mochet.

This Oscar Egg Randonneur (long-distance touring bike) is well-appointed – with special steel wheels and top-of-the-range aluminium Martele mudguards

Please don't shoot me down I know it's not French but just want to share my appreciation for Stronglight 49D/ TA 50.4 bcd cranks and Cyclotourist chainrings, definitely a design classic.🇨🇵 I've just changed my worn out 32t for a new 28t i won on eBay for just 99 pennies. Paired with a 49t and a six speed 14-28t rear block I've now got a 27-96 inch range with no overlaps..no excuses for pushing it up the hills..👍 They were copied by Sugino and Shimano in the 80's and today by Velo Orange and Sun, not sure exactly when the 5 pin design started but a long time and still going.
