New Werdling 1930s bicycle. I like a good story and a great restoration. Notice the smoked paintwork panels, nothing new under the sun. I hope you enjoy this as much as me . Owners translation below.
Hello to all
Here is my new acquisition presented quickly in the latest finds
a 30's man bike
Brakes with rods
Super champion derailleur
I'll get it back at the end of next week, but I couldn't wait to tell you its story
It all starts as it often does with an ad on the bon coin for sale New Werdling bike (unknown brand for me) the bike looks nice a bit expensive but I like it, it's almost Christmas...I call
I met a very nice man who was very talkative and we talked about the bike. He told me that his grandfather, Mr Eugène Mompetit, had bought a new bike in Amiens in 1932...
He then moved to the Yonne in Sens where during the war the tyres were requisitioned by a German troop...
In 1957 the family house in Sens was sold and the bike, still without its tyres, was stored in the attic of the new house in Bretonneux, where this gentleman has always known it.
He kindly sent me 3 superb photos one of Eugene his grandfather on his wedding day
One of his aunt and one of his mother (with the hat) very 2 posing in front of the bike.
According to my colleague who picked it up and stored it in his living room for 2 weeks it is full of dust but in perfect condition
Yes it's great to know the history of it as well as the pictures, if we hadn't agreed on the price I think I would have taken it anyway.
Here it is, finally recovered, dirty and dusty but in perfect condition
The paint is nice and recoverable. Cleaning, greasing of all the bearings and derouillage should give it a second youth.
