That ad is a beauty.God dammit @Guinessisgoodforyou - can't stop looking at that Hurtu.
Was that really a randonneur to start with? The picture with the EdN paint (assuming original) really does say porteur. The brace for the coaster brake is sublime. It's all sublime. My only issue with the modernisation is the tyres are a good 10mm too wide (errrr....I may have griped about this elsewhere). The tube profiles and how it is built considering the time period is just mind blowing. Got to give it to the owner allowing us to witness what was under the paint. I'm wondering if this was something very unique to show off skills rather than a custom order. I mean a porteur was a work horse bike and you would need to be a very dedicated top class high wage earning rider to empty the wallet on something so incredibly refined and out of the world.

Fcuk it, I'm going to the Inn and spread some specific bike love.

I think you are right regarding paint Jan. It's always difficult to tell how good the paint really is in a photo though, it may have been beyond saving. I did comment earlier I would have kept it as a randonneuse. I don't worry though as at least its being used and I think it looks beautiful. That ad is a beauty.
When it comes down to it, I do think the owner should have kept the paint. But it is a very desirable bicycle nonetheless. What you say about showing off skills, could be right. But porteurs and racing were very big, as we have seen, so maybe?
