Cool reference chart for Duralumin tubes - looks like there would be several pages in the "envelope" that would pull out.

I like the concept of the randonneur, and I like the ride of the French bikes I own, so I had been checking French eBay and Leboncoin for quite a while.

Finding something in my (XL) size, however, turned out to be quite a challenge. I finally found this Robust frame set, made by the Ets. Berger in St Etienne. Not particularly high end, but the size was right (63cm), it had chromed ends, and I loved the colour. I fell in love with it and paid way more than I should have. :)

While an older design, it was probably made in the early eighties for the lower end of the market, and after much deliberation I decided to disregard originality and period-correctness and build with my favourite components for maximum enjoyment.

Parts designs date from the early 1920's (the Lyotard Berthet pedals) to the 2000's (the Campagnolo triple), and I think I've got every decade in between covered.

The result is a bike that punches well above its weight, if I say so myself.

That is a fantastic and beautiful build. Very usable and practical too.
