Very original survivor 1992 Pine Mountain

Re:

Have one of these myself in the same condition. I believe they were higher up in the Marin range. Mine has a chrome zoom steam so must of been swapped out at sometime. I did try some other sti's on it but couldn't get the front mech to operate correctly. Good job I've still got the m095s that were originally on it.

Re:

Well I checked in to Brighton and picked this up today. What’s the opposite of ‘mint’? The good news first:
- it’s all original down to the tyres
- XT shifters in place, looking pretty decent and functional
- Araya RM17s on DX hubs look like they will clean up and have life left
- handlebar is in decent nick
- cranks also decent, bolt cover thingys both there
- it’s a 17.5” frame, more my size than the one I was thinking of using it as a doner for
Less good:
- everything steel (non-stainless)is well rusty and mostly beyond redemption. All bolts, chrome, skewers, seat post QR, headset, rear mech...
- tyres are done for sadly
- seat post seized of course, probably stem too.
- frame is pretty rusty too.

I’m not sure whether to use it as a doner or attempt a very arduous resurrection.

Pics follow. Hopefully...

Re:

Im guessing this was from a guy in Portsalde /Southwick maybe ?
It did cross my mind when it was on Gumtree but only as a donor really but i was strong for once

Paul

Looking at the pics i would probably say donor bike unfortunately, some nice parts on it. Would need a lot of money spent to revive sadly.

Looks FUBAR, unfortunately. If it got a 29.6 mm seatpost size, then it should have been made out of thicker walled tubing, (I had both versions) therefore could be saved easier, if 26.4 mm is the sp. diam., then better to leave it to professional masochists...
