Very cool Bontrager ATB(?)

Back to the Bontrager.

Amazing bike. Beautifully detailed, although the cable running through the top of the seat stay is super simple it irks me that this delivers the cable hanger at an angle and over time it will keep sliding across to the right cantilever... not a crazy price for a hand crafted piece of history.

The seller has a few other tasty bikes too. Not that I should be looking!

Its interesting that routing, assume there is a guide inside otherwise whats to stop the cable cutting its way through the stay eventually......although I guess 40 years on it hasn't.........but also not seen anyone else use that method (?) so maybe no the best idea.





Can't say I'm a fan of that colour, looks like a repaint so wonder what it was like originally.

I’ve seen cables routed like this before, but normally they have a Teflon liner over the cable for a short section to protect cable & tubing. Just not a fan because of the lob-sidedness. I guess a good V-brake would resolve that!
