Velocity stems & riser bars.

Hi,does anyone have any experience of using riser bars with a early dual front bolt quilled Velocity stem.
I,ask this because there are a number of 1 1/8 th x 100mm quilled Velocity stems for sale on American eBay for $5.00 b.i.n.
I,cant see from the listing picture (and cant remember) if the bar clamp is "Knotched" to allow for a bent bar.

Velocity and risers.

I had that set up a few years ago. Used a relatively low rise bar and gently eased open the clamp with a screwdriver. Worked fine.

Opening up Velocity stem

Here is how to do it:

The bolts drop in from the top. The top half is not threaded, the lower half is.

Take the bolts out of the stem all the way and put them in the threaded ahlf (upside down). Pt a coin in the gap and do up the bolts. The bolts will push against the coin and open up the gap. Dont to it too much or they wont reach the threaded lower half when you put them bcak in to top.

I have found this to be the best way to open up 'split' stems without damaging them.
