Hi All

I have been given a V.E Edwards frame Serial Number V74032.

Looking at the info I've found that tells me it was manufactured in 1974 would this be correct?

Also I need info on what BB will fit?

I assume its an Imperial thread and a 24 TPI thread pitch gauge seems a good fit.

I am planning on using the frame and any info or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Is there any way I can determine what length BB shaft I need.
I guess it will depend on the chainset and chainline.

The BB you need will be dictated by which chainset you get, a lot of chainsets of that era were 42/52 tooth doubles and will either come with the bottom bracket or are easy to source.

Have you thought about buying a whole bike for donor parts and swapping over rather than finding each individual item? Might save you a lot of time and expense.........

and then selling the frame on...

not saying you should buy the above, just an example.

At the moment i'm planning to swap other the parts from my other steel road bike then replace with better quality parts as I find them.

Its just the BB i'm concerned about but now thinking if I can fit the one off my other bike and see what length spindle I require.
