As far as I know most v'brakes have this pin, (part of the spring) usually its to adjust the overall tension of the brake, via the 3 holes on the frame/forks. I have never had one break in 20 odd years so cant see it breaking off.. Hope this helps..

S Sithlord Old School Grand Master May 6, 2009 #10 It might be you just need a new spring fella, have you seen if the spring part comes out of the brake arm ? I have loads of springs spare in the workshop , which you could have, so might be able to salvage them
