"Never used like new." It would be interesting to know what bike shop would let this leave through the front door. I wonder what it handles like...

But how many of us are secretly disappointed we didn't think of this ourselves? This is a pioneer. Cunning use of 1" quill stems which have a 22.2 diameter, exactly right for sliding a set of foam grips onto, and those are going to take the edge right off as they come through your rib cage, one pointed at each lung. For extra safety - this is someone who installs lights and reflectors, after all - there may even be quills fitted under those grips so that the ends aren't blade-shaped, too. Worried about unsightly grip ends at the base of the stem? A little red electrical tape will tidy that right up!

Re:

The one saving grace is that with a bike like that and all the crap fitted to it means he won't be able to exceed 5 mph on it

I can't help asking myself: Why didn't I think of that back in the day.

I for one could never afford X-Lite in the nineties.
