Uppadine Cycles - Transfers

Retro Guru
I have an Uppadine Cycles (Doncaster) frame that I am looking to renovate and rebuild.

The head tube and seat tube crest transfers are missing and whilst Lloyds Decals stock the down tube Uppadine transfer they do not have the crest ones. Steve at Lloyds tells me that they could reproduce these if a suitable picture of one can be provided.

If anyone has an Uppadine bike complete with transfers I wondered if a suitable photograph could be taken and forwarded to me together with the dimensions. On the Cycle UK forum is a colour picture showing the ornate seat tube / head tube badge but the angle is not very helpful.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards
Shaun

I was told once that Uppadine frames were mainly Mercians - but I could be wrong! Mercian did build a lot for 'the trade' BITD.

Thanks for your comments Ned and Little Al, the frame is certainly a good quality one.

Any takers? Hopefully someone must have a completely decked out Uppadine frame.

With thanks
Shaun

There have been a few references to the bikes owned by members of the V-CC. Are you a member?

Let me guess, your frame is gold. And I am pleased to see your willingness to search for the decals across a number of forums.
I hope that some of these may be of use in your quest.

Thanks very much Philip - and you'd be spot on regards the frame.

I've seen those sites except for the flicker ones of the faded frame. Ideally a few close up views and size of the badge - the cyclist one, would be useful so that Lloyds can reproduce it; not proving to be very straightforward and I'll make contact with the museum. I am a member of the V-CC so there's always scope for posting a note in the journal.

Much obliged,

Shaun

I will PM you the references I found doing a search throught the back issues of the Boneshaker and News and Views.
Then look up the names in the Current Membership list to see if they are still a member.
