Update: Narrow Wide Chainring 180° flip?

According to the Shimano website, their chains are indeed directional. It's why the logos and type are only stamped on one side. Face the stamping away from the frame, and your chain is on correctly

There’sa difference between directional chains and directional chainring though innit?
Indeed, thats a fantastically obvious point, chains and rings are entirely different things. Thank you for clarifying. I wanted to provide accurate information regarding chains after incorrect statements were made on page one. I didn't want to single out the poster's error by quoting their words. Again, thank you for your contribution.

Sorry, I thought you were implying that as (some) chains were directional, rings must be too.

This is now in fact the last remaining solution.
All the potions on the world (and the stuff @Betsy sent was strong!) are not going to shift the graphics from the chainring. I stopped rubbing after getting flashbacks from sanding my Trek 8300 down to bare aluminium by hand..I felt the tendinitis was not far off!

So it's getting flipped for now, with a respray when it's a bit warmer outside.

Thanks all for your input.
