Re:

any plans on scanning these?

I am sure David Orr, formerly of the small North Cheshire Velo club, would enjoy reading through these. (So would I)
I had the roundel put on when I refurbished Dave's bike.

Nice find. Still quite a few ex-BLRC members out on VCC rides. I have some race programmes from Sheffield area races dating from the early 50's which are under BLRC rules. I still can't make my mind up whether I would have been BLRC or NCU if I had been a bit older and racing BITD. I always fancied being a bit of a rebel so possibly I would have been a 'Leaguer'!

I've also got a few copies (very tatty ones!) of the BLRC magazine 'The Leaguer'. Interesting reading with 'characters' in there that were still around until quite recently - and still may be!

If you wanted to be a Massed Start racer you had to be a Leaguer in my area of the midlands (early 50's) the division lines were very clearly drawn not sure as I never was in one but STR NCU afill clubs if you rode a BLRC event you got thrown out a guy tried to organise a track event at the Harvey Haddon stadium & invited NCU & BLRC members 1951 IIRC it almost started WW3 there was a constant letting down tyres & winding in/out gear stops at cafe stops & abuse hurled at each other on passing club rides & if a rival org club was seen going the same direction it did resemble WW3 a modern day Pro sprint was like a toddlers tea party on what happened when the rival groups came together on the road Arh the good old days
